Svanehøj – Engage to Sustain

THE PARTNERSHIP

Svanehøj is a market-leading pump manufacturer specialized in handling liquids for future-proof
sustainable solutions. For decades its technology has proven to be among the most effective and
reliable in the market.
Svanehøj is committed to taking climate leadership and implementing sustainable initiatives within
the company and value chain. Svanehøj began its sustainability journey in 2020 and made it its
mission to significantly decrease its greenhouse gas emissions and drive sustainability initiatives
more systemically. As part of this mission, SustainX and Svanehøj started a partnership at the end
of 2021.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WORK

In 2021 SustainX and Svanehøj began a 3-year partnership, implementing sustainability activities
from SustainX’s Engage To Sustain Framework. That means we are looking into many interesting
activities supporting Svanehøj’s green transition. Here are some of the activities we are focusing on
during the first year of our partnership.

First, SustainX conducted a Current State Analysis to disclose Svanehøj’s market position and
sustainability maturity. The analysis sets the foundation of all future work and tracks Svanehøj on
three parameters: People, Profit, and Planet. A Current State Analysis includes activities such as
Maturity Matrix, PESTEL, ESG Positioning, and Materiality Assessment. Based on the results from the
analysis, we can begin to strengthen Svanehøjs sustainability initiatives, supporting its mission of
becoming a climate leader in the market.

Second, it is important for Svanehøj to establish a CO2eq baseline to track the development of future emissions. SustainX and Svanehøj are gathering data for a Scope 1 and 2 inventory in accordance with the Green House Gas Protocol standard. By mapping out Svanehøj’s Scope 1 and 2 emissions, it will be clear to see the effects of its sustainability initiatives. Once a complete overview is established, we can set reduction targets and implement initiatives to lower Svanehøj’s greenhouse gas emissions. In 2023 Svanehøj and SustainX will establish a CO2eq baseline for relevant Scope 3 emissions.

Third, there is a big focus on setting a solid foundation in the first year. This also entails that Svanehøj’s internal sustainability competencies and knowledge are further strengthened. Together with SustainX Academy, selected Svanehøj employees will undergo educational courses on Climate Accounting and chosen Sustainable Development Goals. By raising sustainable awareness and building knowledge and a common understanding of sustainable development amongst employees, Svanehøj’s sustainability strategy will be strengthened and at the same time, employer engagement will be raised by giving them a chance to become an active part in this exciting journey.

Lastly, Svanehøj will establish an internal Ambassador Corps to keep motivation high and make room among the employees for innovation and ideas supporting Svanehøj’s green transition. The first year will bring many more sustainability initiatives.
